About USKO

Traditional roots.
Built for today.

USKO Sport Karate combines multi-style martial arts with boxing techniques, all based on the traditional style of Wado Ryu.

With dynamic high kicking and fast punching, it is a thoroughly modern way for the whole family to get fit, have fun and make new friends – very much a style for today, using modern training aids and equipment.

The United Sport Karate Organisation is proud to be a member of the British Martial Arts & Boxing Association, which supports more than 100,000 martial artists across 6,500 clubs every year and helps independent grassroots clubs improve standards throughout martial arts.

We are committed to providing a high-quality, affordable sporting service: well-designed programmes, competitive prices and excellent value for every student and family.

Questions parents ask first

Children join from age 5 and train in the Children 5–12 & Families session at every hall. Adults (13 years and over) have their own session straight afterwards, with no upper age limit.

A combination of multi-style martial arts blended with techniques from boxing, based on the traditional style of Wado Ryu. Dynamic high kicking and fast punching – a modern way for the whole family to get fit, have fun and make new friends.

All students, whatever their age, practise semi-contact (light contact) sparring. It keeps an element of competition, but we emphasise that winning is not everything – taking part and trying your best is what counts most.

Suitable loose clothing, such as a t-shirt and jogging bottoms, is fine for your trial lessons – and bring a drink. If you carry on, your instructor will talk you through the suit and kit.

More than kicks and punches: confidence, discipline, concentration and perseverance. Younger children play games that build balance and co-ordination, older ones work on teamwork and co-operation, all reinforced by a structured grading syllabus.
